The Computation Oncology Lab researches the technical calculations of curative radiation dose on 3D and 4D images, including Monte Carlo techniques on a cluster of PCs, automatic image registration, image segmentation, shape analysis, and the PLUNC software developed in our clinic. The COLab is directed by principal investigators Ed Chaney, Sarang Joshi, Eric Schreiber and Julian Rosenman.
Our focus, as spelled out in our Mission Statement leverages the true 4D nature of human anatomy. Some of the lab's specific aims are listed in the Vision Statement.
The lab is located (map) at the NC Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Proximity to both researchers and clinicians allows us to implement and test our solutions in our clinics with results that only an inter-disciplinary group can attain.
